On Tuesday, November 10th, 2009, the American Medical Association, AMA, shocked the world and gave a ringing endorsement to the medical marijuana by altering their 72 year stance against the drug and it’s benefits to the medical world.

This move shocked most supports of the medical marijuana and those that oppose the legalization of marijuana for any reason. The reason this is so stunning to people is because there were really no signs of warning that this was coming. The AMA, and it’s 250,000 member doctors, have always been consistent in their dismay for the potential use of medical marijuana.

However, give the AMA and their leadership some credit. They are obviously willing to be flexible with the times and have been weight the research that has been pouring in supporting the medical benefits of the marijuana.

However, as of 1997, the AMA has had a strong stance against marijuana and classified it as a Substance I drug that has no medical benefits what’s so ever. Other drugs that share in this category are PCP and LSD, which his a bit harsher than marijuana and might be understandable. To give you some perspective, cocaine and amphetamines have been given Substance II clearance because they have been recognized to have some medical value.

The AMA made it clear that they were not giving an outright endorsement of marijuana and it’s legalization, but simply wants to open the door to more clinical trials and see if more cannabis based drugs can be prepared to help mankind. That is their clear aim with this decision and it is sitting very well with medical and recreational marijuana supporters.

Still the AMA made this statement as well, “This should not be viewed as an endorsement of state-based medical cannabis programs, the legalization of marijuana, or that scientific evidence on the therapeutic use of cannabis meets the current standards for a prescription drug product.” They merely want to open the door for more testing.

President Obama has yet to comment on the issue. But there is clear evidence that he wants to leave the door open for medical marijuana research and study. His administration even ordered Federal law enforcement agencies to stop shutting down medical marijuana clinics and facilities that are following State laws. This was another positive for the marijuana movement.

AMA endorses Medical Marijuana

Overall, this is a positive step for not only medical marijuana users, supporters, and believers, but for marijuana smokers in general. Because you have to figure that if marijuana will ever be legalized in this country, it will start with the legalization of medical marijuana first, then trickle into recreational use as well. At least, we can only hope.

Way to go American Medical Association, AMA, for finally getting on the right side of the medical, medicinal marijuana usage debate!

My best advice to you would be to not get caught with marijuana in the United States. Although this is great information, it isn’t always possible. Or, you cannot control when this happens and when it doesn’t. I am sure that everyone in jail over a marijuana or weed case wish they wouldn’t have gotten caught, but the unfortunate truth is some people do get caught.

The Amount of Marijuana

The amounts very, but if you have it in smaller quantities that is not bagged up into little baggies with the intent to distribute, then most times you will not get a felony. In fact, if the authorities think you are just smoking it, they may just take your marijuana and let you go because a lot of cops understand that the prisons are being filled with non-violent offenders, many of which just had some marijuana on them. These cops will let you go….depending on the amount.

Once you have a the marijuana bagged up as if you are distributing it to buyers, then you are going to get hit with not only the possession charge, but the intent to distribute charge which is the one that carries the felony with it. Even with this you need to have a significant amount on you.

Can You Get A Felony With Marijuana?

Many cities in the United States are seeking to decriminalize marijuana, which would make it legal to carry in small amounts to smoke. The best test case for this is Canada that has decriminalized marijuana. I know the City of Chicago is looking to do such a thing, but marijuana carries such a stigma with it that people are hard on this drug as if alcohol isn’t worst or cigarettes.

Bottom Line: Yes you can get a felony charge with the possession of marijuana, but it depends on the amount that you have with you. If you are in a car that has marijuana in it and authorities are going to pull you over, my advice to you would not to wait and see if they are going to give you a felony, I would say you better eat that marijuana and have a good day telling the story.

Think about it. Whenever someone tries a new food and ask what does it taste like, it seems the likely response is that it taste like chicken. I don’t know if this is always true, but chicken seems to be the most widely used reference in the food industry. This is not the case with the smell of marijuana.

The Marijuana Smell

The marijuana smell is something that fills a room quickly. Especially if we are talking about that good marijuana that is a little more costly, light green in color, sticky and has a strong aroma. You cannot mistaken the smell of marijuana.

I remember being a little boy playing growing up. It seems like we were always in the neighbors backyards, jumping fences, playing our imaginary games. One day I was running along the playground and jump the fence of the neighbor across the street. Running through their back yard, I jump another gate and was hit in the face by the very unique smell. It was the marijuana smell.

That was the first time I smelled marijuana, but didn’t realize it at the time. It wasn’t until years later when my friends would smoke it that I realized that was what I was smelling for the first time as a little boy. 

The marijuana smell is very unique.

Best Weed Names

Ganja - This is a term that is used by people of the Island region of the Americas. Ganja is a loving  term that just rolls off the tongue. And when someone is about to fire up the ganja, you know it is going to be a good night.

Spliff - Everyone has heard about the term spliff. You got to love it. Pass the spliff on the left hand side.

Devil’s Lettuce – This term just cracks me up. I first heard it in a movie and just fell out laughing. If weed is the Devil’s lettuce, then I think I am smoking it. But you got to love the weed name here. Think about the time frame that it came out, like the 1940s or 1950s. This was an era when marijuana was just begin to really being banned and outlawed. Actually it was outlawed in the mid 1930s.

Chronic - Dr. Dre and California popularized the term Chronic, which is that lime green, sticky fire kind of weed that we all have grown to love.

Greens - You can imagine why weed is called greens, right? Well, pass the greens, son!

The Mothership - No list on the best weed names could be complete without the Mothership. Smoking weed and the effect it takes on your mind and body is like you are getting on a spaceship to elevate your consciousness. The Mothership is the only one to fly in this situation.

Marijuana leaves 

Marijuana leaves also are aesthetically pleasing with it’s green texture and defined shape. I don’t think there are many people around today that are not aware of the marijuana sign. The leaves form an unforgettable shape that people will be talking about until the end of time.

Marijuana leaves produce a smell that is unforgettable. If the substance of the marijuana is on “fire” level, meaning that it is a reall good batch. The smell of the marijuana leaves can be inhaled from a great distance away. After all, if you have that lime green, sticky surface that so many smokers come to love and enjoy, then you will be able to smell it once you pull open the back and expose it to the air. The smell of marijuana leaves a strong impression on most people.

How to Smoke Marijuana

There are literally hundreds of ways to smoke marijuana, but I will spare you of all the ways for now and just focus on my five favorite ways.

1) One Hitter – Most of the time, I am smoking throughout my work day because I have the luxury of working from home and on the Internet. So, throughout the day, I might slip down to my enclosed porch in the back and take a toke from my one hitter of some “fire” cannabis and get my mind right for the next part of my business day. It is a great life, but the one hitter delivers enough for me. Plus, it doesn’t make me smell like marijuana smoke. Which hiding the smell of marijuana is always a plus. One hitters are a great way to smoke marijuana

2) Roll a Joint - There are a multiple ways to roll a joint, but the old school way with the white 1.5 papers are the best. I prefer 1.5s to 1.0 because it allows you to roll bigger joints. There is nothing like laying in a hammock in your backyard and blowing a big fat joint, reading a good book or watching the clouds pass by. These are the best ways to enjoy marijuana. Rolling a joint is a great way to smoke marijuana

3) Roll a Blunt – From time to time, I like to roll a blunt and smoke it when I am by myself. It just depends, but I only use green leave cigars as the paper. I believe they burner slower for whatever reason, but like it better that way. especially when smoking with other people. They might be talking to much or get too high, get stuck and are just holding the marijuana. With a brown leaf it will just burn, burn, burn your marijuana up. But with a green leaf, the blunt will not continue to burn and waste your marijuana, it will go out and preserve the weed. Rolling blunts is a great way to smoke marijuana

4) Bong, Water Bongs, Hydro’s – There are too many aids available to you when trying to get high, but the bongs are some of my favorites. They are great for parties to wow people and give them something else to talk about. The first bong I smoked out of was in college where the guy across the hall had a three foot bong and I gave it a shot. Geeeshh, I was high as I can remember ever being and have been loving it ever since that day. Bongs are a great way to smoke marijuana

5) Vaporizers - I have not tried a vaporizer just yet in my marijuana smoking career, but I know it is coming. They say it is the purest way to smoke marijuana and doesn’t involve smoke so much of the marijuana arguments are out the window. If you have never seen a vaporizer put it on your list and give it a shot. I know that I am. Vaporizers are a great way to smoke marijuana
