Medicinal Marijuana Is Coming To an Hospital Near You

group of doctors in hospital smiling and looki...

Like it or not, medicinal marijuana is coming to an hospital near you. There just seems to be too much need, research, and support for it to be much longer before it is not used in the medical field and eventually legalized.

After the American Medical Association approved marijuana for medical research purposes and reversing their over 50 year stance against it, the tide turned. Now people are more likely to be open to the possibility that marijuana might be the wonder drug that it was once thought to be.

American Medical Association & Medicinal Marijuana

As WSM reported in this article about the American Medical Association supporting marijuana, we knew that this done would be coming our way soon. They AMA reported that they are willing to open up medicinal marijuana to more testing and allow doctors and chemist to begin testing drugs that can be created from marijuana that will help the medical community deal with the rising illnesses and troubles of the people.

There is little doubt that marijuana can be used to help people with cataracts, glaucoma, asthma, the common cold, and more, but there is hope that it might be very helpful in ADD, ADHD, cancer, sickle cell anemia, and more. Think about how wonderful this would be if these illnesses and many more can be tamed by something that grows out of the ground and is very sustainable. This would be huge, which is one more reason we feel that Medicinal marijuana will be coming to an hospital near you soon.

Medicinal Marijuana Research

Every since marijuana was made illegal in 1937 here in the United States, it has had a very hard time proving it’s medicinal uses to the public. The reason is because most of the credible researchers that they American people would trust dropped out of researching the herb for medical purposes as they thought that it had no chance of being legalized for medical or personal use, so why continue the studies?

The people that were studying the medicinal uses of marijuana were fringe researchers here in the United States and others from foreign countries, but Americans are not likely to trust either group. Therefore, for about 70 years, medicinal marijuana has been lost in the shuffle of the drug war, teenage usage, and lies about how it effects the body.

With the backing of the American Medical Association and even the Obama administration that told Federal agencies to leave marijuana clinics in States that allow them to operate alone, medicinal marijuana is posted to take to the lime light and enter the hospitals as a viable drug that has the capacity to change the medical field and the world.

The Need for Medicinal Marijuana

It really puzzles me that people are not open to even testing the uses and benefits of medicinal marijuana. You would think that with all the illness and sickness in this world that are not being solved by more dangerous drugs, the medical field and the people would be open to explore the uses and functions of medicinal marijuana, but they are not. They are closed minded and don’t even want to acknowledge any of the benefits or victories that have already been accredited to marijuana.

For example, people with multiple sclerosis are greatly benefited by smoking marijuana, but people act like those that do should be thrown in jail. This is ridiculous. We are all grown ups and if you want to smoke, then smoke. But if smoking greatly improves your quality of life, who are we to say that you shouldn’t be doing it. I always thought the medical field was here to help the people, but it seems like they are not.

Yet with the American Medical Association changing it’s stance on medicinal marijuana, the doors of opportunity seem to be opening and the lights of the hospital will shine on marijuana soon.

Medical Marijuana Doctors

Medical marijuana Doctors are in high demand since it looks like the sweet ganja is going to be released to the medical community and the needs of their patients. The need for medicinal marijuana is at an all time high.

After the AMA, American Medical Association, reversed its stance on marijuana everything has been changed. This is leading to a weakening resistance to the marijuana movement. Medical marijuana clinics are up as well.

We did an article on the AMA support of Medical marijuana and understand how it is going to change the game. First of all, these medical marijuana doctors as they are being called, but are really doctors that believe their is or may be some medical benefits to substances we love to smoke. They are open to exploring the possibilities, rather than damning the entire herb as something that is sinful.

Medical marijuana Doctors are open minded. Many of them may smoke marijuana themselves, you never know, but the point is they would love to explore this future. And they are  in high demand.

Medical marijuana doctors are in high demand because there is a large population of people that are sick, not able to eat, can’t control their muscle functions, can’t see, and more because they can’t get the marijuana they need. Everyone is not willing to go to the corner of some foreign area to get a back of weed. Many couldn’t get there if they wanted to.

But medical marijuana Doctors make it possible for these people to get the sweet ganja medicine they need everyday to survive.

The rest of us just want to smoke some purple kush and get high.

Smoke on!

AMA Supports Medical Marijuana: Unexpected Policy Shift Changes the Game for Future of Medical Marijuana

Medical - friendly doctor smiling in office

On Tuesday, November 10th, 2009, the American Medical Association, AMA, shocked the world and gave a ringing endorsement to the medical marijuana by altering their 72 year stance against the drug and it’s benefits to the medical world.

This move shocked most supports of the medical marijuana and those that oppose the legalization of marijuana for any reason. The reason this is so stunning to people is because there were really no signs of warning that this was coming. The AMA, and it’s 250,000 member doctors, have always been consistent in their dismay for the potential use of medical marijuana.

However, give the AMA and their leadership some credit. They are obviously willing to be flexible with the times and have been weight the research that has been pouring in supporting the medical benefits of the marijuana.

However, as of 1997, the AMA has had a strong stance against marijuana and classified it as a Substance I drug that has no medical benefits what’s so ever. Other drugs that share in this category are PCP and LSD, which his a bit harsher than marijuana and might be understandable. To give you some perspective, cocaine and amphetamines have been given Substance II clearance because they have been recognized to have some medical value.

The AMA made it clear that they were not giving an outright endorsement of marijuana and it’s legalization, but simply wants to open the door to more clinical trials and see if more cannabis based drugs can be prepared to help mankind. That is their clear aim with this decision and it is sitting very well with medical and recreational marijuana supporters.

Still the AMA made this statement as well, “This should not be viewed as an endorsement of state-based medical cannabis programs, the legalization of marijuana, or that scientific evidence on the therapeutic use of cannabis meets the current standards for a prescription drug product.” They merely want to open the door for more testing.

President Obama has yet to comment on the issue. But there is clear evidence that he wants to leave the door open for medical marijuana research and study. His administration even ordered Federal law enforcement agencies to stop shutting down medical marijuana clinics and facilities that are following State laws. This was another positive for the marijuana movement.

AMA endorses Medical Marijuana

Overall, this is a positive step for not only medical marijuana users, supporters, and believers, but for marijuana smokers in general. Because you have to figure that if marijuana will ever be legalized in this country, it will start with the legalization of medical marijuana first, then trickle into recreational use as well. At least, we can only hope.

Way to go American Medical Association, AMA, for finally getting on the right side of the medical, medicinal marijuana usage debate!

Marijuana Nutrients

There are two sides to the marijuana nutrients discussion that we will take on briefly today. The first side is the amount of nutrients that marijuana needs to grow. The second is the nutrients in marijuana that actually benefit human health better than most drugs that are prescribed by the medical profession.

Marijuana Nutrients

In order to grow properly, marijuana needs a certain level of nutrients that are going to allow it to grow. Many of these nutrients are found in regular planting soil. However, if you are growing hydroponically, then you don’t need as many of these nutrients as the water serves it’s purpose in allowing the plant to grow under different conditions. If you decide to grow potted marijuana plants, then you will have to ensure that their appropriate level of marijuana nutrients are present in the soil.

Medical Marijuana Nutrients.

A study has been released by scientist at Scripps Research Institution in California linking marijuana usage to a reduction in the likelihood of alzheimer’s settling in. According to the study, the THC in marijuana actually acts as a preventative to the breakdown of neurotransmitter acetylcholine better than many of the commercially marketed prescription drugs. The researchers say they are not telling everyone to go out and start smoking marijuana for the nutrients in order to prevent the alzheimer’s disease, but it might not be a bad thing to as many have tried to paint that picture.

Nevertheless, like everything, you shouldn’t believe everything that you read, but don’t count out the medical benefits of marijuana nutrients.

Marijuana Lung Cancer

There has been a long debate over marijuana and it being the cause for lung cancer. Well today, We Smoke Marijuana want’s to put it’s two cents into the debate.

Marijuana Lung Cancer

Allow me to quickly answer the question “Does marijuana cause lung cancer”? I can definitively say, NO!!! Don’t listen to all the half-cocked garbage that you hear people saying about the negatives of marijuana. Marijuana does not cause lung cancer.

Research finding after research finding supports what we already know here at We Smoke Marijuana, it doesn’t cause lung cancer. I don’t blame people for thinking that it might contribute to the development of lung cancer, but it actually fights it off.

Largest Marijuana Lung Cancer Study

According to the Washington Post in 2006, the largest marijuana lung cancer study every done was funded by the National Institutes of Health’s National Institute on Drug Abuse, involved over 1,200 people in the Los Angeles area who had lung, neck, or head cancer. In addition, 1,040 people without cancer at all was included, matched by age, sex, and neighborhood. Was an extensive study, but what was interesting was what the researcher found.

The new findings “were against our expectations,” said Donald Tashkin of the University of California at Los Angeles, a pulmonologist who has studied marijuana for 30 years.

“We hypothesized that there would be a positive association between marijuana use and lung cancer, and that the association would be more positive with heavier use,” he said. “What we found instead was no association at all, and even a suggestion of some protective effect.”

The fact that the research Tashkin had previously thought that marijuana was bad for the lungs and in fact did cause lung cancer in the past, had a complete reversal of his opinion and now believes that their is no correlation is amazing. In fact, in the article he mentions that he believes the use of marijuana actual stops, shrinks, and prevents the grow of cancer in the lungs. Talk about a complete turn around.

The research is in. Marijuana does not cause lung cancer.

How Long Does Marijuana Stay in Your System?

If you wanted to know how long marijuana will stay in your system, then you came to the right place. Just think about it, where else would you go if you wanted to know more information about marijuana, than to marijuana smokers? And we smoke marijuana is more than just a name for our website, it describes our way of life.

Marijuana Stays in your System

It is true. When you smoke marijuana the THC levels can be traced in your system for days, weeks, even months depending on the type of testing you are going to endure. As a marijuana smoker, I found it imperative that I found a way to make a living that did not involve working for someone else and being subjected to marijuana testing. That would just be setting myself up for failure.

However, let’s consider for a moment that you haven’t been so lucky to find an occupation that isn’t going to test you for marijuana and from time to time, you will need to just flush your system of any traces of it before you lose your job.

Urine Test for Marijuana

One way employers and agencies test for the presence of marijuana is through your urine. You are asked to leave a sample and that urine sample is screened for THC. Marijuana will stay in your urine for at least 6 to 8 weeks without any assistance in flushing it out. There are drinks on the market that you can purchase to accelerate this process and marijuana leaves the system from 48 to 72 hours, but you have to drink a shit load of liquid to make it happen. In cases of emergency, it is possible to make it happen even sooner.

Hair Test for Marijuana

The hair test for the marijuana in your system is the one that all indulger’s of the ganja fear the most. The reason is because marijuana can stay in your hair system for more than a year. So this means that last new years at your brothers party you hit the joint and that marijuana just might still be in your system. There is no promise that it is all gone or there, but it is possible.
